Everton have been heavily involved in the transfer rumour mills mainly thanks to Romelu Lukaku who has been subject to intense transfer speculation, but news is surfacing of the club set to seal an impressive signing.

Following Sunderland's relegation to the Championship, it will come as no surprise that there'll be a mass exodus of their prized assets.

Jermain Defoe is already heading for the exit as he becomes a free agent in the summer with a host of Premier League sides plotting a move.

And it now appears Jordan Pickford will also follow in Defoe's footsteps of exiting the Stadium of Light.

That's because Everton are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal for the in-demand English stopper.

According to the Northern Echo, Everton are confident of completing a £17 million deal for Pickford.

The 23-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest with Arsenal, Manchester City, among others, eyeing up the budding keeper.

Though it appears Ronaldo Koeman will secure his services once the transfer window reopens in the summer.

It's believed that Sunderland have slapped a £20 million price tag, but will likely settle for £17 million to ease their financial situation.

Pickford graduated from the Sunderland academy to eventually break into the first-team, making two league appearances last season.

However, the local lad has become an integral part of David Moyes' side this season after his performances between the sticks.

Despite being reluctant to leave, Pickford will continue to ply his trade in England's top flight as he also harbours aspirations of an England call-up.

Koeman will finally fill a problematic position. The Dutch boss has Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg on his books.

Though is growing frustrated of their outings with the pair churning out below-par performances.

Pickford has been identified as his No.1 choice, and it seems likely he'll land his preferred option.
