Everton Ready To Sell Wayne Rooney In Summer Overhaul

Wayne Rooney would have been hoping that a move back to Everton could revitalise his career as it entered into its final stretch but now the former England captain could be about to leave Goodison Park just months after his return.

It's kind of weird that Rooney will ever be synonymous with Everton. Sure he came through their youth ranks and was their great hope but he played just two Premier League seasons as a teenager before moving to Old Trafford.

At Manchester United he became a worldwide superstar, elevated himself to Manchester United and England captain and became top scorer for both those teams, beating Sir Bobby Charlton's two records.

After a couple of years of poor form he returned to Everton in the summer. Part of the rebuilding process Ronald Koeman had to make to his side after Romelu Lukaku went the other direction on the M62.

It hasn't worked out for Rooney or Everton though this season and whilst the 32 year old has scored 10 goals in the league his last one was in December. Now, according to the Mirror, the Toffees have decided to listen to offers for the forward turned midfielder in the summer.

Rooney's potential departure wouldn't be the only big move that majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri could make this summer. According to the report manager Sam Allardyce and chairman Bill Kenwright could be moved on to.

Allardyce replaced Koeman after just a few months of the season but he clearly wasn't the Toffees first choice and despite taking them to safety and into the top half questions remain about his tactics and future at the club.

Chairman Kenwright stayed on at the club after Morishi bought the Merseysiders but the deal to keep him on as chairman ends in the summer so he could be moved on.

Former Watford manager Marcos Silva, who Everton tried to get before appointing Allardyce, Shakhtar Donetsk's Paulo Fonseca and Bournemouth's Eddie Howe would all be targets should Everton decide to replace Big Sam.

The former Bolton manager's contract doesn't expire until the end of next season but the feeling is that he won't be in charge at Everton next season.
