The lure to play at the Nou Camp for Barcelona was passed up by Raphael Guerreiro as the defender opted for a move to Germany with Borussia Dortmund revealing why.

Following his exploits in France, the Portuguese was subject to interest from the Catalan giants. Though the lack of first-team football was enough to sway his decision instead heading to Dortmund.

Speaking to Canal+, the 22-year-old admitted it was a tough decision but the correct one for his playing career. "It was a very difficult decision to say no to Barcelona."

Continuing to add; "But there came a moment where I had to make a decision and Borussia Dortmund's offer convinced me the most."

Still a fledgling wing-back with room for improvement and development, so consistent playing time was an important factor.

"I need to play regularly this season get minutes under my belt in order to keep developing. And I have been fortunate that things have been going very well for me in Germany."
