Ed Woodward Has His Own Personal Transfer Wish List

Ed Woodward Has His Own Personal Transfer Wish List

Manchester United's executive vice-chairman has a separate list of superstars to his manager and hopes to bring one in this summer.

Ed Woodward might have the worst ever first transfer window but since then he's done slightly better. But the Manchester United executive vice-chairman has his own list of transfer targets that he wants to sign, and they're pretty tasty.

It's easy to forget but in the summer of 2013 it wasn't just Sir Alex Ferguson who left his job at Old Trafford but also David Gill. That meant David Moyes first transfer window was overseen by the extremely inexperienced Woodward.

And his name became synonymous with disaster as moves for Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, Leighton Baines and Gareth Bale all failed leaving United's only signing that summer as Marouane Fellaini.

Even that deal was a farce with the Red Devils forking out more money than they needed to be missing out on the date for his release clause!

Since then things have gone better for Woodward, admittedly they could hardly have got worse, and this summer United fans are excited to find out who exactly is on Jose Mourinho's wish list.

But, according to the Manchester Evening News, Woodward has his own wishlist of four superstars. Cristiano Ronaldo leads the way followed by Gareth Bale, Neymar and Thomas Muller.

To be honest there's probably no surprise in any of those names considering the numerous times the Old Trafford club have been heavily linked with each one.

Before Fergie decided to retire it sounded very much like the 13 time Premier League champions believed they would bring Ronaldo back 'home'.

That summer Woodward tried to bring Gareth Bale to the northwest of England but the former Spurs winger felt that the Spanish capital was a better opportunity.

Muller was heavily linked with a move from Bayern Munich during the Louis van Gaal era especially as the Dutchman brought the player through to the first team at the Allianz Arena.

Neymar was the big news last summer as United were reportedly ready to smash some big transfer records to get the Brazilian.

The thing is Woodward's interest usually ends up in the player signing a new deal at their current club and claiming they never wanted to leave.

I wonder how much Ronaldo will be on at the Bernabeu next season...
