Borussia Dortmund Chief Rules Out Jadon Sancho Transfer To Manchester United

The deadline for the Premier League club to make their bid for the forward was thought to be today, before the German side started training.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc officially ruled out Jadon Sancho leaving the club, amid rumours of his move to Manchester United.

There had been talk of an August 10th deadline for the Premier League side to complete the move for the 20-year-old, with Dortmund beginning their pre season training camp.

United have failed to agree to the Bundesliga sides £105 million asking fee so Zorc, speaking to the media, ruled out the transfer, saying, "We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions."

Not done with his explanation of the situation, Zorc also claimed that Sancho's contract now extended to 2023, adding, "Last summer we adjusted the salary to the performance development of Jadon. In this context, we have extended the contract until 2023. "

Previously it was expected that the club might have to sell this summer or risk losing him cheaper next year when he only had one year left on his deal.

The news will come as a huge blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United who had clearly made Sancho their number one target this summer.

For fans of the Premier League side currently worrying there may be some light at the end of the tunnel, as it's not actually the first time Zorc has made a similar statement.

Talking about the possibility of Ousmane Dembele being sold to Barcelona in 2017, the Dortmund sporting director said, "Ousmane Dembele has a long-term contract [until 2021] and we are making definite plans with him. There are no negotiations [with Barca]. Ousmane is going to be playing for Dortmund in the coming season."

Within weeks the French forward, who'd only joined from Rennes a year before, moved to the Nou Camp for a huge fee.

It's also not the first time United have attempted to negotiate down an asking price before eventually paying it, with Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes both joining in similar fashion in the past year.

All those factors will currently be of little solace to a fanbase who are desperate for their club to sign Sancho in order to help have any chance of returning former glory to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer must put it out of his mind for now with his side face FC Copenhagen in the Europa League quarter final on Monday.

Do you think United will sign Sancho eventually? And if not who will they sign instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
