Diafra Sakho Believes Ridiculous Bonus Is The Reason He Doesn't Start

The West Ham striker was on the verge of a move this summer and is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

Diafra Sakho was supposed to start against Arsenal on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup quarter final but ended up on the bench. Because of his insane bonus it seems like that will continue to be the case, especially in the Premier League.

Transfer deadline day can be a very busy day especially for Jim White and all the agents that he apparently has on speed dial, although you'd have thought they were actually doing their job rather than ringing him during ad breaks.

Diafra Sakho wanted to leave West Ham on deadline day but instead went to the races because his agent's horse was running. After that he signed a new deal but he is yet to start a league game.

Last night he was due to get his third Carabao Cup start of the season but ended up on the bench instead. According to the Daily Mail that was because of a conversation with new manager David Moyes about his lack of playing time and he nearly just went home.

Apparently the 27 year old believes that he is being left out of the starting line up in the league because of his new contract. He reportedly receives a bonus of £50,000 for every Premier League start, more than doubling his wages.

The Carabao Cup isn't included as part of the deal and he has started two games in the competition so far but he has made all 14 of his Premier League appearances as a sub, which is a lot of substitute appearances without one start.

For his games this season he has made £350,000 as he still makes £25k for every game he manages to get off the bench, which still isn't too bad seeing as it's more than most people make a year!

The forward was looking likely to join West Brom back in the summer but a failed medical, because of a back injury, scuppered the deal but he was on the bench for the opening game of the season and not injured.

He's been linked with a move to Cardiff City in January but the Championship side are unlikely to spend the £15 million the Hammers want for him.
