At Manchester United one of the criticisms that dogged David Moyes was the lack of conviction he seemed to do anything. Clearly the new West Ham boss is learning from his mistakes as he's set to sell a player that only joined the club in the summer.

When David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford it was always going to be a huge job and difficult for anyone. But the Scot seemed to be almost paralyzed by the fear of a failure that became inevitable.

There was a story at the time of him being too scared to throw Marouane Fellaini onto the pitch as a sub during the Champions League to play upfront because smacking it up to the big man wasn't the 'United way,' try telling Jose Mourinho that one.

After stints at Real Sociedad and Sunderland, both failures, the 54 year-old has ended up at the London Stadium where his job will be to rescue the Hammers from the relegation zone, he can't afford to be scared by his own decisions.

The Mirror reports today that the former Everton manager has been given the green light by club owners David Sullivan and David Gold, dg, to sell any underperforming players and Moyes is ready to show Marko Arnautovic the exit door.

If Moyes were to sell Arnautovic it would be a huge statement of intent against the underperforming squad with the Austrian only joining the Hammers in the summer from Stoke for a club record £25 million.

That would mean selling him just six months after joining but after struggling for form it might not be that big a shock. The 28 year-old has hugely underperformed and is yet to score.

Moyes will have the chance to use the money generated for any sales and is apparently eyeing up Harry Arter to strengthen his midfield and Sunderland's Lamine Kone for the defence.

Could a ruthless streak help Moyes and West Ham avoid the drop?
