Daniele de Rossi has only just waved goodbye to the Roma team that he has become synonymous with and now David Beckham wants to make him his first high profile signing for Inter Miami.

When you think of Roma in the last two decades and instantly two men come to mind in the shape of Francesco Totti and Daniele Rossi. The two men bled Roma to the extent that their talents could have led them away from the Italian capital but they never left.

Two years ago Totti decided it was finally time to hang up his boots, aged 40, and now the Giallorossi have lost their other stalwart.

On Sunday it was De Rossi's last game at the Olimpico Stadium, with Roma winning 2-1 against Parma, after the captain decided to call time on his career in Rome after 18 seasons and 616 games for the club.

Unlike his former teammate, the combative midfielder hasn't made any decision on hanging up his boots or on where he will play next.

There's been plenty of speculation but according to TNT Sports, via AS, David Beckham wants De Rossi to sign for Inter Miami and play in their first MLS campaign.

Beckham's MLS team were founded at the beginning of 2018 and are due to join the MLS next year in the 2020 season.

There has been a lot of speculation about who the former Manchester United winger would sign to join the team he owns and they are likely to sign at least one high profile name.

De Rossi could certainly fit the bill and the World Cup winner would still only be 36 by the time they kicked off their season, and he could look for a short term contract in Europe before next March too.

The Italian has previously said a move to America would interest him, saying, "I've always said that getting to MLS is something I would like," and New York City have also been linked with him.

Whatever happens with his future there's no doubt that watching Roma next season without either of their stalwarts is going to be a weird experience.

Will De Rossi and Beckham team up in 2020?
