Jack Wilshere could be set for a stunning switch should Arsenal really deem the midfielder surplus to requirements in the summer.

Arsene Wenger offloaded him to fellow Premier League side Bournemouth at the start of this season but will return to his parent club in the summer, with just a one year to run on his contract.

After bursting onto the scene as a promising teenager, Wilshere has failed to live up to his potential. But could a move abroad resurrect his career?

Well, David Beckham thinks so.

The former England skipper has recommended Wilshere swaps the Premier League for Europe, in particular Italy's Serie A with one of his former sides.

According to the Daily Mail, Wilshere is reportedly keen on a move to AC Milan if Wenger ultimately ditches him on a permanent basis.

Beckham enjoyed a loan spell with the Rosonneri's in 2008 and 2009 from LA Galaxy. And he even recommended the move before the 25-year-old opted for the South Coast.

Could he follow in the footsteps of Beckham and Joe Hart by venturing to Italy?

Xavi claims Wilshere is the one English player Pep Guardiola would love to sign.

Barcelona legend Xavi believes his former boss could line up an offer for Wilshere, while claiming Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the midfielder.

And he's produce the goods, until lately, having made 22 Premier League appearances. Five more across the two previous seasons at the Gunners.

Including their defeat to Manchester City but the Spaniard is apparently keeping an eye him, well, according to his former player. Speaking to FOX Latin America via Goal, he said;

"I know Pep has always had a lot of respect for Wilshere - he impressed so many of the Barcelona team when we played Arsenal in 2011."

"He impressed me a lot that night, I know he also did Pep and it will be a player that he would have been following ever since."

Xavi is referring to the Champions League encounter where Wilshere starred in the middle of the park, and it's a performance which still sticks out; "We have talked about him, it was not a performance you forget easily."

"Technically he is the sort of player that Pep loves - his only problem has been injuries - and if it wasn't for the issues he has had with injuries I am sure he would be one of the best midfield players in the world."

"At the moment he seems to be doing well with his fitness - and if there is a chance to sign him in the summer - I am sure Pep will give it real consideration."

What's the chances Wilshere ends up at Milan or Man City?
