Philippe Coutinho is eyeing a possible return to the Premier League to join Manchester United and the Barcelona midfielder has already spoken to some of his potential future team mates about it.

The transfer saga that finally saw Philippe Coutinho move from Liverpool to Barcelona stretched over two transfer windows as the Brazilian was refused his move in summer 2017 before the Reds finally relented and let him leave in January 2018.

However, despite eight goals in 18 games for the Catalan giants in the second half of last season, the £142 million signing has failed to reproduce the form that took him to Spain in the first place.

This season he has come under a lot of criticism for his performances and despite appearing in every La Liga game has only managed four goals and two assists.

He's still a part of the first team at the Camp Nou but there has been numerous rumours about him leaving, including Barca selling him to help finance a move to re-sign Neymar.

According to the Mirror, the 26 year old has already spoken to Manchester United players about a potential move to Old Trafford, with United being heavily linked with him.

The paper claims that the player has told friends he's failed to settle at the Camp Nou and that he misses playing in the Premier League.

A return to Anfield seems unlikely because of the way the relationship with the Reds came to an end, with Coutinho desperate to move and eventually having to force a move away.

Moving to Liverpool's rivals will not go down well with the Anfield faithful but if he wishes to move back to England then it is likely to be Coutinho's best option, hence already talking to United players.

PSG were linked with the former Inter midfielder before his move to Barcelona and the Parisians could come back in for him if he were made available by the La Liga leaders.

Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo report that the Ligue 1 champions will try and sign Coutinho as 'revenge' for Barca beating them to Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong.

Is Coutinho the player that United need?
