Following a prolific season, the 26-year-old expressed his desire to remain in France. And his wishes have come to fruition as Nice have officially resigned him.

His contract was due to expire next week but the French outfit have secured his services with Balotelli reportedly putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

They dropped a hint on their official Twitter account before announcing the deal.

The club have also confirmed that the player has taken a pay-cut in order to remain a Nice player.

"I will only say two or three things on Mario," club president Jean-Pierre Rivere said. "The first is that the player wants to stay in Nice. Afterwards, he's ready to make financial efforts to continue to work with us."

Nice finished an impressive third, ahead of both Lyon and Marseille, as they claimed a spot in the Champions League.
