Derby County have agreed a loan deal for Manchester United's James Wilson.

The Championship side had expressed an interest, and have followed it up by acquiring his services until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The promising 20-year-old is set to link up with his new teammates in the coming days.

Jose Mourinho's decision to offload him to the Championship was on the cards following the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as boasting the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Derby boss Nigel Pearson is delighted with his latest recruit. "We're delighted to have agreed to bring James Wilson the club on a season-long loan. I hope that this loan deal will prove to be mutually beneficial for all parties and I would like to place on record our thanks to Manchester United for allowing James to join us.

Continuing to add. "He is an energetic player who will add to our existing attacking options." Pearson told the official clubs website.

Wilson has already experienced life in England's second tier having enjoyed a loan spell at Brighton last season.
