The January transfer window is just a few days away from closing as managers across the league secure their signings ahead of next Tuesday's deadline.

With just a matter of days to do business it appears Crystal Palace are continuing to splash out money by poaching players from within the Premier League.

Not only did Palace fork out £12 million for Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp, but they're now close to finalising a £14 million deal for Sunderland's Patrick van Aanholt.

Van Aanholt has been given permission to speak to Palace "after the defender advised officials that he no longer wanted to play for the club and submitted a transfer request" per Sunderland.

Sam Allardyce has confirmed this morning that the Dutchman is at the ground to undergo a medical ahead of his switch.

The pair will reunite following their time together at Sunderland where Van Aanholt was a major part of helping them maintain their top flight status last season, according to Big Sam.
