Jose Mourinho Is Now The Bookies Favourite To Be Next Manager Sacked

Manchester United's poor performance and 3-2 loss against Brighton yesterday has seen the bookies install Jose Mourinho as the favourite to 'win' the Premier League's sack race this season but can he hold onto his job?

Jose Mourinho's third seasons rarely go well. At Chelsea the first time he admittedly lasted into his fourth season. His first two seasons ended in Premier League glory but the third saw them finish behind Manchester United in second.

The beginning of the fourth season was a disaster though and he was soon sacked. Smartly he only stayed two seasons at Inter, winning the treble in his second term, before heading to the Bernabeu.

At Real Madrid and his second spell at Chelsea the wheels fell off following league title wins in the previous seasons, really creating the legend of his third season meltdown. At the Blues he left with the then champions staring at possible relegation.

Now United and Mourinho don't even have the pleasure of a league title to fall back on as everything comes apart at the seams.

Yesterday United were turgid as they lost 3-2 to Brighton and with Leicester winning against Wolves it is now Mourinho who is favourite to win the Premier League sack race.

Claude Puel had been favourite to go down. Much like his season with Southampton there had been murmurs that Leicester weren't happy with the Frenchman last season.

The loss to United on the opening day led to further rumours that the Foxes were considering replacing their manager so he was favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season.

Their win against Wolves coupled with United's loss has seen Mourinho over take him with the former Porto boss not being helped by Zinedine Zidane admitting he'd like the United job in the future.

Rafa Benitez is second in the odds with Newcastle's continued struggles at the top and Mike Ashley's refusal to spend any money.

Mark Hughes is next after Southampton managed just one point in the opening two games and Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock is fifth placed with the Bluebirds struggling after two games.

It seems right now that you'd be winning good money if you bet on Mourinho to be in charge this time next year.

Will United sack Mourinho before the end of the season?
