Barcelona Have Put Seven Players Up For Sale This Summer
Barcelona defended their La Liga title this season but it was still a big disappointment of a season for the Catalan giants, now they look set to offload up to seven players in the summer.
At the beginning of the season Lionel Messi promised that Barcelona would bring the Champions League back to the Nou Camp for the first time since 2015, after several years of disappointment in the competition.
Once they reached the semi final that promise looked to be coming true and even more so when they beat Liverpool 3-0 in the first leg at home.
However for the second season in a row the Blaugrana threw away a three goal lead in the Champions League to go crashing out.
The 4-0 loss against Liverpool was made even worse by the fact they then lost the Copa del Rey final to go from eyeing up a treble to 'only' winning the league.
That ending of the season looks to have resulted in an overhaul of the team and there are seven players on the transfer list. According to Mundo Deportivo Philippe Coutinho, Andre Gomes, Jasper Cillessen, Malcom, Denis Suarez, Rafinha and Marc Cucurella are all up for sale.
Coutinho was a transfer target for Barcelona for more than six months before they signed him in January 2018 from Liverpool but his time back in Spain hasn't turned out well.
The Brazilian was poor against his former club in the semi finals and he has come under a lot of criticism in just 18 months at the club.
Potential moves for Antoine Griezmann or Neymar have no doubt sped up the need to sell Coutinho, although it remains to be seen who will splash out £100 million for the 26 year old.
Gomes was on loan at Everton last season and has also reportedly been chased by both West Ham and Spurs already this summer.
Arsenal loaned Denis Suarez in January but he had no impact for Unai Emery's team and played just six games before injury saw him return to Spain early.
The club are hoping to make around €300 million this summer in order to fund the rebuild of the team that includes Frenkie de Jong and potentially club mate Matthijs de Ligt.
Which of the seven will Barca sell?
