The La Liga club chased Philippe Coutinho all summer with no success and Jurgen Klopp is going to become very fed up with them.

All summer Liverpool, and the rest of us, had to endure Barcelona's seemingly endless pursuit of Philippe Coutinho. Somehow they hung on to him in the end but they could be set for another round, just this time not for Coutinho.

The transfer window seemed to go on forever, that was probably most true at Anfield as Liverpool counted down the days till Barcelona stopped pestering them about trying to sign Philippe Coutinho.

Ernesto Valverde's side were were desperate to get their man and their man was seemingly desperate to move to the Camp Nou. They made three bids for the Brazilian with the last one believe to be worth up to 150 million euros.

However the Liverpool board were certain they didn't want to sell and eventually the transfer window closed with the former Inter man 'stranded' in Merseyside. But will Barca be back for him?

Well according to the Mirror today they have switched targets but it's not actually good news for the Reds as instead they will look to try and sign Sadio Mane from Klopp's side instead.

However the news is actually even worse from Liverpool's point of view because Barca aren't the only ones interested with their fierce rivals Real Madrid also interested, as are fellow European superpower Juventus.

It's no real surprise that clubs are becoming interested considering the Senegalese forward's star to the season. In his opening four games in the Premier League season Mane bagged three times, leading many Liverpool fans to claim he was their best player.

Mane joined the Anfield outfit for £34 million in the summer of 2016, making him the most expensive African player of all time, and has been brilliant for Klopp's side since his arrival.

It was his absence through the African Cup of Nations that put an end to the team's good form last season and ended their title run.

Could we be about to see another long saga between Liverpool and Barcelona.
