England and Everton defender is a man in demand and the race for his signature is about get even more interesting, with reports that Barcelona are ready to make an offer for the 22-year old this week.

The La Liga winners were keen on Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, but the Brazilian now looks to be staying in France. Barca will instead turn their attentions to Stones and will likely offer £25 million for his services.

Everton are looking for £45 million for the former Barnsley man, who is also attracting interest from both Manchester clubs. Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign Stones last summer at Chelsea, but his approaches were knocked back and Stones stayed put. Moreover, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have been heavily linked - with the incoming City boss looking to shake up the current squad and bring in young, technically gifted players.

Stones fits the profile, but he is also the type of player Barcelona crave, with the defender always looking to bring the ball out from the back. Everton are yet to appoint a new manager since sacking Roberto Martinez and that may open the door for Stones to leave.

It's certainly one to keep an eye on in the next few months.
