Barcelona's start to the La Liga season has been pretty surprising to a lot of people. But despite the good start the club clearly aren't resting on their laurels as they eye up three Bayer Leverkusen players.

Before the season started the writing was on the wall for Barcelona according to many. After years of domination either at home or on the continent the Camp Nou side looked like they were starting to be on the wane after Real Madrid won the league and Champions League.

The weakening of Barcelona, after losing Neymar, and the expected continuation of the work from Real put Ernesto Valverde in a difficult position as the new Barca boss. But after eight games the Catalans are unbeaten and already four points about their rivals from the capital.

Lionel Messi's form has been as good as it's ever been and the team are looking very good to once again challenge for the title and possibly the Champions League. So how can they get better?

There's still the potential of Philippe Coutinho signing but, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, there could be other targets. The paper reports that Robert Fernandez and Urbano Ortega, have been watching three Bayer Leverkusen players closely in Jonathan Tah, Leon Bailey and Julian Brandt.

21 year-old centre back Tah is one of Europe's biggest defensive prospects and is apparently available for around 25 million and has previously been linked with several Premier League clubs.

Bailey is a 20 year-old Jamaican right winger who has excellent speed whilst 21 year old Brandt is another who has been linked with a lot of clubs in the past including Bundesliga talent hoovers Bayern Munich.

Firstly for Barca is their expected bid for Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho in the winter transfer window. Ernesto Valverde's side tried to sign the Premier League star throughout the summer but the Reds would not budge.

It remains to be seen if they'll make any moves for any of the Bayer trio.
