Barcelona's Transfer Rumours Are Getting Even More Ridiculous By The Day

Barcelona's Transfer Rumours Are Getting Even More Ridiculous By The Day

How desperate for a right-back are they?

It's pretty well-known that Barcelona are absolutely desperate for a new right-back. Nobody at the club seems to rate Aleix Vidal, so much so that central midfielder Sergi Roberto has been converted to a right-back.

And the club have been linked with a whole host of right-backs to fill their regular full-back spot on the right flank.

Juventus' Stephan Lichsteiner and Shakhtar skipper Darijo Srna ar among the potential candidates, while Barcelona are also huge admirers of Valencia defender Joao Cancelo but will likely not be able to land him until the summer window.

The Catalans want a short-term solution in January, hence the emerging links with Stoke City defender Glen Johnson, which are utterly ridiculous.

But there's another bizarre name on the list.

Barca-based outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, who has not started a Premier League game for Chelsea since being given the run-around by Arsenal in September's 3-0 defeat, is among the options being considered by the La Liga champions. He seemingly does not fit into Antonio Conte's three at the back system.

The Serbian's contract expires at the end of the season, meaning much like Johnson, Barcelona would be able to get him on the cheap in January.

Can you see Ivanovic lining up alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez anytime soon?
