Monaco have agreed a €25 million deal for 16-year old sensation Pietro Pellegri.

The Genoa striker has become one of the hottest prospects in world football following a series of impressive displays in Serie A.

The joint-youngest player to have debuted in the Italian top flight when he took to the field against Torino in December 2016, aged 15 years and 280 days.

Football Manager wonderkids who flopped:

His history-making has continued from there, with Pellegri hitting headlines on the final day of the 2016/17 Serie A season, in a 3-2 defeat to Roma.

The game at the Stadio Olimpico will forever be remembered for being Francesco Totti's final game as a footballer, but he also grabbed a piece of the limelight as he became the first player born in the 21st century to score in Serie A.

This season, he bagged a brilliant brace in a five-goal thriller against Lazio, sparking emotional scenes on the bench from his father, Marco, who is Genoa's assistant.

Once described by former manager Gian Piero Gasperini as "the next Lionel Messi", a plethora of top European clubs have been showing interest in Pellegri.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal were all linked, while Juventus were pushing to do a deal for him.

However, the Bianconeri have been usurped by Monaco, who have quite the track record when it comes to young attacking talents - Kylian Mbappe and Anthony Martial to name just a couple.

Pellegri has arrived for his medical today and is set to sign a five-year contract with the principality club.

Will Monaco be the perfect fit for the young prodigy or should he have remained in Italy?

Sound off in the comments.
