Arsene Wenger outlined his plans for the January transfer window, and it appears he's taken action.
While Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil continue to dominate the rumour mills, as they remain heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates, Wenger also wants to strengthen his team.
And when asked whether he's expecting a busy window, he replied by saying:

"Yes, because first of all you have clubs that call you to get players on loan or to buy your players.

"And as well I'm open-minded to any possibility to strengthen our team," Wenger added.

One position in the Arsenal rank which is viewed as a weak spot is defence. And Wenger is hoping to bolster his options in January.
According to reports from Sky Italia via Calciomercato, Juventus have rejected Arsenal's £35.5 million bid for defender Medhi Benatia.

It's believed the Moroccan international is a key target for Wenger who is an avid admirer of his defensive work.
However, despite Arsenal's keen interest, the Italian champions are reluctant to sell and have no plans of offloading him for their books.

Benatia, 30, boasts an incredible wealth of experience following his stints with Udinese, AS Roma, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
So he's a natural fit for Arsenal who are looking for a solid defender to sure up their back four ahead of the second half of the season.
