The Real Reason Arsenal Won't Sign Bordeaux's Malcom

The Real Reason Arsenal Won't Sign Bordeaux's Malcom

The Brazilian was on their list of January targets buts they've decided against signing him.

Arsenal and Manchester United fans are not so patiently awaiting news of whether or not Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez will swap places but one move that the Gunners won't be completing is for Bordeaux winger Malcom.

Just a few weeks ago it seemed like none of this was really possible, Mkhitaryan was most likely to go on loan somewhere or stick around till the end of the season and Alexis Sanchez was probably going to be at Manchester City.

On top of that it seemed like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was set for a move to the Chinese Super League and Malcom was going to go to Manchester United, if indeed he was leaving France.

Would Malcom have joined this list of transfer flops?

It shows how much can change in the transfer window in such a short time with Arsenal and United likely to swap their players and Aubameyang heading for the Emirates Stadium too.

However Malcom will not be going to Arsenal. According to BBC's David Orenstein the Premier League club pulled the plug because of the 20 year old's lack of experience. The report also says that the exchange with United isn't likely today:

However it feels like that was a poor excuse, seeing as Maclom was just as experienced when they were initially in for him, then you're right because according to reports the winger will actually be moving to Arsenal's rivals Spurs:

Yeah, 'inexperienced.' Nice one!

Having sold Theo Walcott already there is no doubt that the side is in need of rejuvenating and overall Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang is probably an improvement on Walcott and Sanchez.

These football badges in different colours are just weird:

Malcom had also been previously rumoured as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele when the Frenchman moved from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona and he's so far scored seven Ligue 1 goals and made five assists for his teammates this season.

Unfortunately we won't be seeing him in the Premier League, for now at least.
