uArsenal will start a Premier League season without Arsene Wenger in charge for the first time in 22 years and Unai Emery is hoping to kick it all off with two big signings.

There is a lot of football fans who can't remember a time before Arsene Wenger being manager of Arsenal and we'll all take a bit of time getting used to watching any Arsenal games without the Frenchman being around.

At the end of last summer Wenger called it a day after over two decades in charge of the north London side, not that it was really his choice, with former PSG manager Unai Emery taking the reins.

Emery, as well as head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, haven't wasted any time with their new signings as defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos have already joined.

But they aren't stopping there, unsurprisingly, and are targeting two more players with a £48 million swoop.

According to the Telegraph Arsenal are closing in an two players with Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira nearly signed up for a combined £48 million.

Arsenal spent a good long time without a decent goalkeeper and their ills were supposed to be over once they signed Petr Cech from Chelsea two seasons ago.

However the Czech goalkeeper has not been the player he was at his peak for the Blues and some of his performances at the end of last season caused doubt over his future at the Gunners number one.

Leno, who just missed out on the Germany squad in Russia, would cost around £22 million and both Cech and David Ospina could be sold with the pair only having one year left on each of their contracts.

Torreira is a holding midfielder playing in Serie A and with Uruguay at the World Cup and the deal for him could be worth up to around £25 million but stretched over several years.

The rebuilding is really underway for the new manager.
