The Arsenal forward could bag himself a £400k-a-week deal with Pep Guardiola's champions elect.

Can anything improve Manchester City right now? Pep Guardiola's team are hardly in need of drastic improvement in the transfer window, which is probably why they'll wait till the summer to sign Alexis Sanchez.

Back in the summer, before the season had really kicked off, Manchester City were looking in pretty good health, having invested in their squad pretty well over the transfer window but it wasn't enough for their manager.

On deadline day they tried everything they could to sign Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez. With the Chilean's contract running out at the end of this season the Citizens hoped to cut a deal for the Gunner.

Arsenal reportedly backed out of the deal when they feared that they wouldn't be able to sign Thomas Lemar as the former Barcelona forward's replacement and didn't want to be left with no one.

There's been plenty of rumour about whether the league leaders would return with a new bid in January but according to the Mirror they will instead wait till July and hand him a deal of £325k-a-week plus £75k in image rights.

Just quite how Guardiola would be expecting to use Sanchez amongst his already impressive ranks is anyone's guess and might be exactly why he wants to wait for the summer before signing the 29 year-old.

The manager's desire to sign another forward could suggest that one of his high profile players could be leaving the Etihad Stadium in the summer. Sergio Aguero has been linked with a move ever since Gabriel Jesus arrived in the Premier League.

City could yet have competition for Sanchez' signature with PSG also monitoring the situation in north west London. Somewhat ironically the Parisians are one of the other few teams who probably wouldn't be that much improved with the former Udinese player.

With Wenger not interested in the money last summer it's unlikely he'll be that quick to sell in January anyway so the summer window looks the most likely.

Should City really be signing Sanchez?
