Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season, in a deal worth £36 million over the next five years, it's certainly not the first time the Italian champions have pulled off such a deal.
It's become a trope at Arsenal over a good number of years that they either lose players on a free when their contracts run out or are forced to sell a year before that happens.
Last season the Gunners managed to swap Alexis Sanchez for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, rather than lose the former for free and kept Mesut Ozil by getting him to sign a new deal.
However, ignoring the fact the choice to sign Ozil up hasn't exactly been a great one, things are back to normal this season with Ramsey's contract ending in the summer and the Welshman now heading to Juventus for nothing.

If Arsenal have a penchant for losing their players for no money then it's fair to say that the Old Lady have a similar enjoyment in signing players for zilch.
Since 2009 the Old Lady have signed Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Kingsley Coman, Sami Khedira and Dani Alves- a pretty decent group of freebies.
Players Juventus have signed on a free:

Cannavaro returned for just one season after his time at Real Madrid and it might not have been the greatest time in the defenders career but for a big fat zero euros that's a decent signing.
Pirlo's move to Juve was rather more successful. AC Milan thought the midfielder was past his best but he defied that thinking winning four Serie A titles with the club and helping them to a Champions League final.

Pogba made up an incredible midfield alongside Pirlo, and Arturo Vidal who only cost around £8 million, also winning four league titles before making the Old Lady a profit of around £90 million!
Coman may have only played 15 league games for Juve but he did help them to win a Serie A title and still managed to make them €30 million in the process of moving to Bayern Munich, still a bit of a success.
Having joined from Real Madrid German midfielder Khedira has gone on to win two league titles with the club and could win more silverware before his time in Turin is done.
Dani Alves might have only stayed for one season in Italy but during his time he was excellent for Juventus, helping them to yet another Serie A title and helping to propel them into the Champions League final, quite literally with his smashing goal against Monaco in the semi-final.

Ramsey is certainly joining a long line of excellent free signings and it'll be interesting to see how he fits in Italy, lining up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Will Ramsey be a success in Serie A
