In 2008, Guardian put together a list of future England stars and it includes some brilliant predictions - and some questionable shouts.

From eventual Premier League and Champions League winners to players who were destined for big things but failed to live up to their potential.

Here's what up they're up to now:

Jose Baxter

Baxter graduated from Everton's youth academy and played seven Premier League games before leaving Goodison Park. He currently plies his trade for USL Championship side Mepmphis 901 FC.

Mark Beevers

Beevers was linked with a move to the Premier League after impressing at Sheffield Wednesday, but he failed to secure a move to England's top flight. He's with Peterborough United.

John Bostock

Bostock made his league debut at the age of 15 for Crystal Palace. Tottenham wasted no time in snapping up the budding talent, but he failed to live up to his potential. He enjoyed spells away from England before returning in the form of a loan switch to Nottingham Forest.

Nathan Delfouneso

Delfouneso rose through the ranks at Aston Villa, and he went on to score two goals in the Premier League though he was unable to nail down a spot as he dropped down a tier to gain experience. He eventually secured a permanent move to Blackpool after enjoying a two loan spells at Bloomfield Road.

Fabian Delph

Delph swapped League One for the Premier League after moving to Aston Villa from Leeds United. He carved out an England career and became a two-time Premier League winner at Manchester City.

He left the champions of England in the summer to join Everton.

Danny Drinkwater

The Manchester United youth product never played a league game for the Old Trafford club. However, he won the Premier League title at Leicester City. He's now at Aston on loan from Chelsea, where he failed to make the grade, after a spell at Burnley earlier in the season.

Jordan Henderson

The sole Champions League winner out of the group. Liverpool snapped up the talented Sunderland starlet for £20 million in 2011. He's since gone on to captain the club and win European silverware.

Gavin Hoyte

The Arsenal academy star was unable to crack the first-team. He's played most of his career in the lower leagues. He plays his football in non-league with Maidstone United.

Henri Lansbury

Lansburg only managed three Premier League appearances for Arsenal before being shipped out on loan to several sides. He plays his football at Aston Villa.

Josh McEachran

McEachran played nine Premier League games for Chelsea in his debut season. Though he went on to play just two more matches for the Blues before being subject to Chelsea's loan cycle. He had five separate loan spells before signing for Brentford, but he was released at the end of last season. He now plays for Birmingham City.

Jacob Mellis

The Chelsea academy star played just one competitive game for the club. Like so many Chelsea youth players, he spent time away from Stamford Bridge on loan. He plays for League One Bolton Wanderers, following a January move.

Victor Moses

Moses rose to prominence at Crystal Palace. He went on to play for Chelsea, where he won the league, and Liverpool. The winger represented England at youth level before committing his international future to Nigeria. He's currently on loan in Serie A at Inter from Chelsea.

Nile Ranger

Ranger played 24 Premier League games for Newcastle United in the 2010/11 season, but failed to hit the back of the net. He left St James Park on loan with Swindon Town securing his services on a full-time basis.

He went on to play for Blackpool and Southend United. He's without a club. Off-field problems have halted his progress with the striker hit with a prison sentence in 2017 for online bank fraud.

Jack Rodwell

Rodwell has endured a turbulent career after rising to fame at Everton. He secured a move to Manchester City and won the Premier League title, but his career went downhill from there. He had a nightmare spell at Sunderland.

He was without a club after playing at Blackburn Rovers last season but signed for Premier League side Sheffield United in January, though he is yet to make an appearance for Chris Wilder's side.

Freddie Sears

Sears is at League One Ipswich Town after breaking through at West Ham United. He has two Premier League goals to his name.

Injuries have prevented him from having a prolific career at the Emirates. He's at West Ham United.
