Real Madrid's Federico Valverde has recently signed a new contract. The release clause has raised eyebrows with it now being higher than Lionel Messi's release clause.

Minimum Fee Release Clause's are mandatory in La Liga. However, most teams normally negotiate insanely high clauses to stop them losing players.

However, this doesn't always come to fruition, especially when PSG triggered Neymar's £220 Million release clause back in 2017.

Real Madrid are the biggest culprits of the insanely high release clauses and have now given Midfielder, Federico Valverde the second highest release clause in the world at £640 Million.

The Uruguayan Midfielder has been one of Real Madrid's most consistent performers this Season, bringing balance to Real Midfield trio that now normally consists of himself, Casemiro, and one of Toni Kroos or Luka Modric.

Lionel Messi though has now been relegated to the third highest release clause at £620 Million. Messi was once known for having an attainable release clause for quite a while normally fluctuating around the £250 Million mark.

Isco is another Real Madrid player with a high release clause, tied with Messi's £620 Million figure and the same as Marco Asensio.

The highest release clause in football belongs to Karim Benzema who is the owner of a £886 Million release clause, £246 Million higher than second place Valverde.
