Premier League Club Owners Wealth Has Been Revealed

Premier League Club Owners Wealth Has Been Revealed

It shows just how impressive Liverpool's season is considering they don't have the most money available to them, by a long way.

The clubs who spend the most don't always win as Liverpool are proving this season and their owner is only the 12th richest in the whole of the Premier League.

Who owns your football club has mattered more and more in the years of the billionaire owners with several very rich clubs being able to spend huge amounts of money.

In England's top tier there are 15 billionaires who own clubs and it's been revealed, by the Sun, who is the richest, and it's no surprise to find Manchester City's Sheikh Mansour at the top of the list.

Mansour and the Abu Dhabi United Group bought City in 2008 and they have overseen an incredible rise in fortunes at the Etihad Stadium, spending a lot of money on transfers.

The club's last league title had been in 1968 and they'd spent considerable amount of time outside the top tier of English football, dropping down to League Two in 1997.

Since the takeover though they've become the dominant force in English football, winning four league titles, four League Cup titles and two FA Cup wins as well.

City over took Chelsea as having the richest owner, when Mansour took over, and Chelsea's era of dominance hasn't been the same since, with Roman Abramovich also investing less in the club.

The Russian's outlay on transfers hasn't been as high and he stopped plans to build a new stadium for the Blues after his British visa wasn't renewed.

Wolves' owner Guo Guangchang being so high up shows that they have the money to match the ambition they've shown in the last few years since being promoted back into the Premier League.

Their connection with super agent Jorge Mendes has helped them push up the league but there could be no limit to how far up the league they'll go if the owners really commit to investing.

Liverpool though have proved that being rich doesn't mean success. Their owner John Henry is only 12th on the list but with clever spending and brilliant management they've become the best team in the league.

Klopp's men may end up unbeaten for the whole season and could easily break City's record of 100 points in a league season.
