Sergio Aguero was voted as the most iconic Premier League player of the last decade and his goal against QPR to win Manchester City their first title must be the reason.

Given the context 'Aguerooooo' might be the best goal, and certainly the most iconic, of the previous decade in the Premier League, if not the history of the competition, as City secured their first title since 1968 with his last minute winner against QPR.

The 32-year-old revealed just a couple of weeks ago that he will be leaving Pep Guardiola's team at the end of the season.

He is likely to win his fifth league title in a decade in England, and, at the end of the previous decade in December 2019, he was voted the most iconic player of the 10 years on BBC Sport.

It may come as a surprise to some to see James Milner take the second spot but the Liverpool player was an ever present throughout the 2010s for City and Liverpool.

Milner also became an internet sensation thanks to parody account 'Boring James Milner' before he landed on social media himself to mimic the boring persona brilliantly.

As part of Leicester City's incredible title winning side and for his party and 'chat sh*t get banged' saying it's no such surprise to see Vardy in third place.

Wayne Rooney is the fourth most iconic player of the decade, and some would probably argue Manchester United's all time top scorer deserves to be higher up.

Three time Premier League winning captain Vincent Kompany rounds off the top five, with the Belgian well known for scoring very important goals in two title races.
