The Top 25 Goalscorers For Club And Country In The Past 20 Years

The Top 25 Goalscorers For Club And Country In The Past 20 Years

Lionel Messi became just the second player in the past 20 years to reach 700 career goals, for club and country, and it's quite a list of players below him.

It took a penalty from Barcelona's all time top scorer on Tuesday night to bring up his 700th goal, although Cristiano Ronaldo tried to steal the headlines with a rocket in Juventus' win on the same night.

The goal leves the 33-year-old behind only his rival in term of goals scored since the start of 2000, although his goals to game ratio is better.

Transfermarkt published the full list of top scorers this century.

Ronaldo's amazing record of goals includes an unreal 99 goals for Portugal and he's just one away from becoming only the second man ever to reach 100 goals for a national team.

Iran's Ali Daei still sits on top of the charts with 109 goals in 149 caps for the Middle Eastern nation between 1993 and 2006.

It seems likely that Ronaldo will surpass that record and he'd be almost impassable after that.
