Erling Haaland Names The Seven Strikers Better Than Him

Erling Haaland Names The Seven Strikers Better Than Him

Erling Haaland is the eighth best striker in the world, according to Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe isn't one of the seven better than him.

Haaland really burst onto the scene last season with his goals for Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League group stages.

His form meant there was a fight for his signature in January, which Dortmund won. The move up in leagues hasn't slowed down his progress and, considering he's still just 20-years-old, he could one day be the best striker in the world.

Right now even the Norwegian can accept that he's not the best in the world and in an interview with VG named the seven men ahead of him, listing, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Agüero, Roberto Firmino, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Harry Kane and Timo Werner.

Whilst we can assume there's no room for Lionel Messi on the list because Haaland understandably doesn't count the Barcelona star as a striker, it is interesting to note the lack of Kylian Mbappe.

Another name that might jump out to some is Roberto Firmino. Though the Liverpool front man is part of the excellent trio with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, the Brazilian doesn't score as many goals himself.

Haaland also explained why he picked Dortmund at the beginning of the year, whilst Manchester United also tried to sign him, saying, "There were of course a couple of clubs involved, but at the same time I did not know too much about this.

"But it was I who first mentioned Dortmund to my father [Alf Inge Haaland.]

"We were sitting at home in Salzburg and watching a game Dortmund played, and I said to him, 'Oi, look at that wall behind the goal. There had been something to play there.'

"I think he was half asleep on the sofa, but suddenly it became a reality. When I talked to them, I got a good vibe. I felt a little sold after that.

"What I liked so much about them was how direct they were. They said exactly how it was right for me. I liked that."

Did Haaland miss anyone else out?
