Chelsea conceded a 91st minute equaliser from Danny Welbeck at Stamford Bridge and fall eight points behind leaders Manchester City, who won a tenth game in a row away at Brentford.
And in interview with Amazon Prime, as well as his post-match press conference, Thomas Tuchel unloaded over the failure to award his side a "clear penalty" that wasn't checked by VAR.
🗣 "Is he [referee] so sure? Or does he want to keep the tension up and the penalty it's a joke, it's honestly a joke not to interfere for VAR." 😡— Football Daily (@footballdaily) December 29, 2021

Chelsea saw Reece James become the latest player to join their growing list of injured players when he was forced off in the first half.
The England defender left on crutches and going into the huge game with Liverpool, Tuchel vented about the club's lack of options due to an injury and COVID-19 crisis.
Tuchel said: "It's a hamstring injury. We will not look ahead to Liverpool now. We cannot. We have to try and find players to play. We have no more wingbacks. Everyone is injured.
"Players are coming back from Covid. They are playing, playing, playing. I will always protect my players. We need to digest this and then we will look ahead."
The European champions were tipped as the team to beat in the title race at the start of the campaign after looking like a different animal following Tuchel's arrival.
But the German reckons Chelsea "would be stupid" to think they can win the league with their current situation.
🗣 "How should we compete in a title race? Everybody else who has a full squad, everybody in training and training every day in full power."— Football Daily (@footballdaily) December 29, 2021

"How should we be in it? We have seven Covid cases," he added.
"We have five or six players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race?
"Everyone else who has a full squad, everybody in training has the full power to come through this league.
"We would be stupid to think we can do it out of Covid and injuries and just play, and everybody would be stupid to do it without 23 fit players."
Chelsea host Liverpool on Sunday as second and third meet, with City having the chance to go 11 points clear if they beat Arsenal the day before.
Pep Guardiola looks on course to win a fourth title in five seasons but the Catalan believes Chelsea and Liverpool are very much contenders, saying, "We are eight points in front but there are 54 still to play for and many tough games still to play".
