'I Don't Like It - It Brings Noise We Don't Need' - Thomas Tuchel Hits Back At Romelu Lukaku's Explosive Interview

'I Don't Like It - It Brings Noise We Don't Need' - Thomas Tuchel Hits Back At Romelu Lukaku's Explosive Interview

Lukaku says he's "unhappy" at Chelsea and wants to return to Inter Milan in the future.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel says Romelu Lukaku’s explosive interview “brings noise” and is “not helpful”, after the striker revealed he is “not happy” with his role this season.

In an interview recorded several weeks ago but released on Thursday, Lukaku told Sky Sport Italia that he wants to go back to Inter Milan in the near future.

Tuchel admits he is disappointed with the striker’s comments and says the club will be dealing with the matter internally.

“We don’t like it because it brings noise that we don’t need, but on the other side we don’t want to make noise, it’s very easy to make headlines or shorten lines,” said Tuchel, speaking ahead of Sunday’s crucial match against Liverpool.

“But I do not like it as it’s noise that we don’t need, we need a calm environment.

“I don’t feel he’s unhappy, I feel the exact opposite so I’m surprised. If there is something [disciplinary action] it’s behind closed doors for sure.

“It’s very easy to take lines out of context to get the focus or to get the best out of these interviews for several days.

“If it’s from a player I totally understand the process, but still we are not here to just read the headlines, we can take the time to try to understand what is going on because it does not reflect the daily work, attitude and behaviour that Romelu shows at Cobham.

“We will [sit down to discuss with him] but we will do it behind closed doors and we will do it openly, so no further comment on that.”

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in a £97.5m move from Inter in the summer but has struggled for consistency this season, scoring seven goals in 18 matches.

An ankle injury has hampered his progress and the Belgium international has played the full 90 minutes just once in Chelsea’s last 12 league games – Wednesday’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Brighton.

Speaking earlier this month, Lukaku admitted he is not happy with his current role under Tuchel.

"Physically I'm doing great. I'm just not very happy with the situation, but that's normal," Lukaku said.

"I think the boss has decided to play a different formation but I have to stick at it and get on with it professionally.

"I'm not happy with the situation but it's my job and I mustn't give up."

Lukaku scored 24 league goals last season to help Inter win the Serie A title and the striker says he is keen to move back to Italian football at some point in the future.

Speaking about his departure from the San Siro, Lukaku added: "I don't think any of it should have happened the way it did. The way I left Inter and the way I communicated with the Inter fans. I'm annoyed about that because it's not the right time now but it wasn't the right time when I left either.

"I always said that I love Inter and I'll play for them again. I really hope so. I fell in love with Italy.

"Now is the right time to talk about it and tell people what really happened, without saying anything bad about anyone, because I'm not like that.

"I want to really apologise to the Inter fans because I don't think I should have left Inter the way I did. I should have spoken to you guys first, especially after everything you did for me, for my family, my mum, my son. I'll never forget that.

"I hope from the bottom of my heart to go back to Inter and not at the end of my career but when I'm still at a good enough level to win more trophies."
