David de Gea now enjoys a reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world but that wasn't always the case. Fellow goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny always new the Spaniard was going to be something special.

Where exactly would Manchester United be without David de Gea. Their goalkeeper has been player of the season at Old Trafford every year since Sir Alex Ferguson called it a day on his managerial career.

Since then United have gone from perennial title winners to struggling to challenge for the Premier League with some seasons being utterly rubbish, without De Gea they'd have been in even more trouble.

Even this season when United have improved he's saved them on multiple occasions with saves against Arsenal and Sevilla springing instantly to mind. But it wasn't always this way.

When the Spaniard moved to United aged just 19 in 2011 he was seen as too lightweight and initially struggled and was even dropped by Sir Alex Ferguson for Anders Lindegaard at one point.

Fans were at the time questioning whether or not signing such an inexperienced goalkeeper was the right move but one man clearly had the foresight to know differently. A tweet from then Arsenal goalie Wojciech Szczesny from 2011 proves he had a magic eight ball:

At that point the now Juventus goalkeeper was the number one for Arsene Wenger's side and the Gunners finished third in the Premier League behind United, who lost out on the league title on the last day of the season on goal difference to Manchester City.

Szczesny was the Gunners' number one for three seasons before the introduction of David Ospina questioned that and Petr Cech's signing ended all hopes of him returning to be number one.

He moved on loan to Roma before joining the Old Lady at the beginning of the season.

If he ever decides to give up goalkeeping then career as a soothsayer awaits.
