Manchester United's newest signing isn't just a quality centre-half but also a bloody handy free-kick taker. Just check out his effort against Sporting Lisbong from the league in the season just gone.

Jose Mourinho made his first official summer signing by drafting in the talented Swedish defender for a believed £30 million from Benfica.

United finally got the deal over the line earlier this week and after completing his transfer, the 22-year-old spoke to MUTV. Lindelof detailed the kind of defender he is while offering to take set-pieces.

"I'm quite a calm player. I like to have the ball at my feet, I'm good with the ball and I'm quite good at reading the game. I think I give the players in front a calmness, they know I'm back there to protect them the best I can."

Then admitting he's quite good at taking set-pieces, revealing he'll be amongst his teammates when United win any free-kicks. "I'm quite good at them so if I get an opportunity to take a free-kick, I think I'll be there"

And judging by his effort from last season, Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, to name but a few, will have some competition.

Not bad for a defender. Look out, Pogba and Rashford.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on free-kick duties last season then Rashford took over after his injury, though following his release from Old Trafford, Mourinho will be searching for a new nomination ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

As well as playing in a central position, Lindelof's versatility means he can also operate from the flanks giving Mourinho another potential option at right-back.

"My position is a centre back, but I've played right back before and I started my footballing career as a midfielder. I see myself as a central defender, and I feel most comfortable there."

Will we see Lindelof standing over the ball next season? The weekend of the August 12th can't come soon enough.
