Having called time on his glittering 19-year career in 2016, Steven Gerrard is working towards becoming a manager in football.

The Liverpool hero is doing his coaching badges and looking to obtain a UEFA A coaching licence in the near future.

After turning down the managerial role at MK Dons and a chance to continue his playing career at AC Milan, Gerrard took on a coaching role in the club's youth side in February, with his duty being to help the up and coming youngsters in the ranks at the club.

Recent reports have come in that the 36-year-old is to take up an even more important role within the club's academy set-up.

That's because according to the reliable Paul Joyce, Gerrard is set to become the club's Under 18 manager when next season rolls around.

It's another step toward Liverpool fans' dreams of Gerrard becoming their manager at some point in the future.

And Reds fans no doubt loved what their former captain was saying on BT Sport's Premier League Tonight show last night - giving a glimpse of how his managerial head thinks.

Gerrard is talking about how when he was a young player coming through the ranks, he was obsessed with being the best and would not settle for anything less.

He also stresses to young players that talent will only take them so far, the drive, hunger and desire is the other side of the game.
