Seeing an absolute thunderbastard of a strike fly into the top corner is one of the most aesthetically pleasing things in football and we thank Sampdoria's Lucas Torreira for walloping home a belter today.
Sixth-placed Samp ran out 4-1 winners over Chievo in the Serie A clash, and Torreira's smashing long-range free-kick was comfortably the best goal of the game. In fact, you'll struggle to find a better free-kick all season in all of the leagues.
About 35 yards out, so far that Chievo felt only a one-man wall was necessary, the Uruguayan hit the perfect free-kick that sailed right into the onion bag. The dip and movement of the ball on the strike is just stunning.
Torreira would cap off a Man of the Match display with another goal from midfield in the rout and continued to impress. His display prompted plenty of positive reaction on social media, with a good chunk of people singing his praises:
Commenting on his goal and performance, the 21-year old is quoted by Football Italia as saying:
"I have been looking for that goal for a long time. I am really happy, just as much for having given joy to the supporters.
"I thank the brother of the boss Giampaolo, who moved me from the trequartista role to a deeper position in the Pescara youth team.
"I try to learn every day, but my life has changed since I have been playing in this position."
Highly-rated Torreira is reportedly being tracked by Atletico Madrid.
