Rare footage of Lionel Messi scoring his first-ever goal for FC Barcelona has emerged online.

The magical moment took place on Tuesday 20th July 2004 in a 6-0 friendly win over against Palamos.

At the time Messi was just 17 but took no time adapting to first-team football if this fine goal is anything to go by; his running style was the same, he was still terrorising defenders and finding the finishing touch.

The Argentine picked up the loose ball in the opposition half, jinked inside and completely wrong-footed the goalkeeper with his left-footed strike..

The Catalan club posted the video to commemorate yet another landmark for the 29-year old, who recently scored his 500th goal for Barcelona - although some outlets are claiming he needs to score a further 31 before reaching 500.

Watch the video of the goal here:

Leo's first competitive goal for the club was the delightful chip he served up against Albacete on 1st May 2005 after being played through by Ronaldinho.

But his first unofficial goal came in this game, where Messi let Barca fans know exactly what he was all about. Gerard Lopez, Andres Iniesta and Luis Garcia were among the goalscorers in the pre-season victory.
