The World Cup qualifiers in South America were just a bit special. Lionel Messi netted a sublime free-kick as they trounced Colombia 3-nil, Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus ran the show as Brazil eased past Peru and Arsenal's talisman Alexis Sanchez tore apart Uruguay.

Sanchez put all doubt about his fitness to rest by scoring a brace in Chile's 3-1 victory against Uruguay, closing in on the legendary Marcelo Salas' goal-scoring tally in the process.

Despite being reported to have picked up a knock sending Arsene Wenger through the ringer, Sanchez did indeed start playing a majority of the game as he help guide Chile to an impressive victory including this tremendous volley.

And if that wasn't enough, Sanchez then got Chile's third and his second as he ran in-behind Uruguay's back-line, showing his incredible strength by holding off the defender to bag his 36th goal for his country.

What a player! Up next: Manchester United on Saturday. Beware United fans, Sanchez is on fire!
