Victor Wanyama Owns A Mightily Impressive Premier League Record

The Spurs midfielder is one hell of a run.

Victor Wanyama might well be a very good midfielder but until today I mostly appreciated his love for spaghetti rather than his technical ability or penchant for winning the ball. His current undefeated record deserves a lot of credit however.

Wanyama has made a name for himself as a very underrated midfielder, which might be a bit of a paradox so we'll move on. First at Celtic and then at Southampton he made a good reputation for a player who did the things that often so unspoken about.

However he first really had the spotlight pointed on him with his now infamous spaghetti tweet:

In three seasons at Southampton Wanyama established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the league and attracted the interest of Arsene Wenger. In typical style Wenger didn't sign him and instead he joined his former Saint manager Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

And since his £11 million move in the summer things have continued to go well for Wanyama and he's now gone 19 Premier League home games without losing, a whole season of home matches essentially:

In somewhat of an ironic twist the Kenyan's last home loss came in a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs.

The 25 year old has played 22 times this season and helped Spurs to have one of the best defensive records in the league. The White Hart Lane club has conceded just 17 times this season, with only Chelsea having conceded less on 16.

Wanyama has built an impressive midfield partnership with Mousa Dembele, leaving Eric Dier to play most of his football at either centre back or right back this season after the Englishman's impressive performances in midfield last season.

The midfielder's record could last for some time yet. Despite tricky home games against Everton and Southampton in March their hardest home task doesn't come until May and a match against Manchester United on the penultimate weekend of the season.

Can he keep his record going till next season?
