Just when you think you've seen it all in football, the most unique assist in football history comes along.

In the 5-0 thumping over Kaiserslautern on Monday in the second tier of German football, Union Berlin midfielder Marcel Hartel laid the ball on a plate for teammate Sebastian Polter by using his arse to great effect.

A long punt up the pitch sees the ball head in his direction, but instead of taking the ball down, Hartel, a Germany Under 21 international, cushioned the ball off his backside for his colleague to slam home a fifth goal against the league's bottom side.

If you're an avid Sunday League player and love mixing it against 'The Dog and Duck' on a regular basis, this is probably not the first ASSist you've come across in your ventures.

However, there's no way on earth that anyone has served up such a controlled assist with the derriere. Unlike 'Big Dave', your average Pub team striker, 21-year old Harte's piece of play is completely deliberate and he means every single bit. Frankly, it's utter genius and if there was a Ballon d'Or for assists, he'd win hands down.

As we all know though, the main man when it comes to the most creative assists has to be the great Ronaldinho. He loved churning out magical moments and expressing himself in an ordinary way, whether it was the Champions League final or a charity game.

And back in April, the former Barcelona and AC Milan playmaker proved he's still got it with a glorious 'no-look' pass for Ludovic Giuly.

The king of freestyle featured in a Barcelona vs Real Madrid legends match in Beirut, as many past players featured - including Gianluca Zambrotta, Francesco Coco, Eric Abidal and Edgar Davids.

Roberto Carlos, Fernando Morientes and Christian Karembeu featured for the Real Madrid legends, but Ronaldinho stole the show with a flurry of incredible tricks and flicks.

Ronaldinho managed to assist every goal in the game because he's Ronaldinho and he does what he wants - when he wants. And his opening assist was just pure filth.

And if you want more assists out of the ordinary, feast your eyes on this incredible compilation, where R10's wizardry features a fair bit:

You can't beat a good unorthodox assist.
