Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Team Have Scored Nearly Half Of Jose Mourinho's Goals

The Norwegian has been in charge of just four games in the Premier League compared to the 17 that Mourinho was in charge for.

Manchester United continued their good form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with their fourth win in a row but it's not just the points that are making the difference, it's the goals- as one comparison with Jose Mourinho proves.

There was a time when Manchester United would have been fuming to lose to Liverpool not just because of their rivalry with their fellow north west team but because they were the better team and expected to win.

When Jose Mourinho lost 3-1 to Liverpool in his final game in charge that wasn't the case. The feeling of anger was mainly because losing to a rival always hurts and also because the Red Devils were just so poor, playing a terrible brand of football.

Fact is right now Liverpool and Manchester City are better teams than United, maybe there's no real shame in that, the problem for Mourinho was losing to smaller sides and again, the awful style in which his side went about things.

Ultimately that did for the former Real Madrid manager when he was sacked and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at least until the end of the season.

Life under the former United striker has differed massively for the team. They now have four wins in a row after their 2-0 win over Newcastle on Wednesday but ESPN writer Alex Shaw revealed a stat that really shows what's changed at Old Trafford since the switch in managers:

In four games under Solskjaer the team have scored 14 goals, under Mourinho in 17 games the team scored 31 goals, a marked improvement.

When Mourinho was sacked the team also had a goal difference of zero and that's now been boosted to a respectable 11, only four of Arsenal who they're now just three points behind.

Some would argue that the new manager has been lucky with the run of fixtures but last season's corresponding fixtures for the team, substituting Cardiff for Brighton as the club who came up from the Championship in second, saw very different results.

United beat Huddersfield and Bournemouth at home, like this season under 'Ole,' but only managed 2-0 and 1-0 wins respectively. Away to Newcastle and Brighton they lost 1-0 to both.

At this rate Manchester United might even look like they've had a decent season by the end of it. The difference is shocking.
