Cristiano Ronaldo's Intervention Helped Wojciech Szczęsny Save Gonzalo Higuain's Penalty

The Juventus striker, on loan at AC Milan, had a dreadful night against his parent club with a missed penalty and a sending off.

Cristiano Ronaldo had more than his usual impact on Juventus' win over AC Milan on Sunday night. As well as scoring the five time Ballon d'Or winner also helped in Gonzalo Higuain's saved penalty.

It's not surprising to most that in a big game Cristiano Ronaldo had a positive effect on his team winning. Sure AC Milan might not be a rival to Juventus' title push, is anyone, but a visit to the San Siro is always tricky.

Ronaldo was on the scoresheet as the Old Lady came out on top in a 2-0 win but it was another Juventus striker who took the headlines.

Gonzalo Higuain might have been in the red and black of Milan last night but he is still a Juventus player, on loan with the Rossoneri.

In England he would have been ruled out of the match as loanees can't play against their parent club but in Italy the rule doesn't exist and so the Argentina forward had the chance to bloody the nose of the club who didn't think they needed him.

At 1-0 Higuain had the chance to level the game from a penalty but his spot kick was tipped onto the post by Wojciech Szczęsny. It seems that the Pole got advice from Cristiano Ronaldo before the save:

The system in Italy, that allows players to play against their parent club, is fairer as the English system means the parent club have an advantage however Higuain will be wishing he couldn't have played last night.

As well as his failure to score from the penalty, the former Real Madrid striker had to go for an early bath after picking up a red card.

Ronaldo on the other hand bagged his eighth goal of the Serie A campaign as the Turin club retained their six point advantage at the top of the table.

It seems that nothing can stop Ronaldo being involved in a game, not even a penalty against his club.
