17 people have died in the tragedy in the block of flats, with six yet to be identified, and further fatalities expected to be confirmed.

In addition, the blaze has left people without their belongings and their homes after a fridge set on fire in a flat and ripped through the building's cladding in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Once again, the sense of community has been something special and a fund set up for all those affected has raised over £355,000 at the time of writing.

And BBC journalist David Ornstein has Tweeted that Sterling, who spent his childhood in north west London, not too far from the area is doing what he can to help out:

The 22-year old called the tragedy "a deep and sad situation" and offered his condolences to the families, as well as outing his intention to "help in the best way" he can.

Sterling, who has been given totally unnecessary flack by certain sections of the media, was praised on social media for his gesture:

Brilliant to see from Sterling. A class act.
