Philippe Coutinho has penned an emotional goodbye message after his £142 million move to Barcelona was confirmed.

The 25-year old was officially unveiled as a Barcelona player yesterday and he took to Instagram to produce a lengthy post regarding his departure from Liverpool.

After joining from Inter in 2013, Coutinho scored 54 goals in 201 appearances for Liverpool and grew to become a world-class player at Anfield.

In the message, Coutinho says that it was a "dream" to pull on the red shirt and he now realises another dream in playing for Barcelona.

He also thanked everyone associated with Liverpool - from Jurgen Klopp, his teammates, all the staff and the fans, who he had a special mention for.

Moreover, the Brazilian wishes his old employers well for the future and says the "amazing" team are getting "better and better".

Liverpool fans have largely been bitter about Coutinho's departure but plenty will have shed a tear reading that - even if Coutinho probably didn't write it himself.

Reds legend Steven Gerrard paid tribute to Coutinho for his five years of service to Liverpool and wished him the best for the next stage of his career:
