Paul Pogba's Rousing Pre World Cup Final Speech Is Brilliant

The Manchester United midfielder was central to France beating Croatia to win the World Cup as much off the pitch as he was on it.

Paul Pogba had a very good World Cup, and proved a lot of people wrong at the same time, and his rousing and emotional speech must have had an impact of his teammates before the World Cup final.

There has been a lot of questions about Paul Pogba ever since he made his then world record transfer fee move from Juventus back to Manchester United in the summer of 2016.

Ever since then there has been a lot of criticism of his form and lack of consistency, which has often been fair, but also criticism over his choice of hair style, ability to dab and enjoyment of social media, which has been totally unfair.

During the World Cup though those who have criticised the France midfielder had to keep schtum as he was an integral part of their success in winning the tournament, including a goal in the final in which he brilliantly started the move.

Footage of his speech before the incredible 4-3 second round match against Argentina showed how much of a leader he is in Didier Deschamps dressing room but footage from before the final is even better.

The rousing and emotional speech must have inspired his teammates:

My French isn't up to much but just reading the subtitles gave me goosebumps, that's some mighty strong stuff.

The former Juventus midfielder references the final loss against Portugal from the Euros two years previous when Didier Deschamps side were favourites to take the title on home soil.

In that final France just weren't at the races and lost 1-0 in extra time after Eder's strike.

Coming into the final against Croatia they were just as big favourites to win but, despite letting the opposition have most of the ball, they never really looked like losing after going 1-0 up.

Pogba implored the players to carry the previous loss with them and use it as motivation to win the World Cup, and that's pretty brilliant.

It will now be a huge season for Pogba. He can't afford to slip back in performance as the criticism could be even fiercer but he also faces the prospect of playing with a less mobile team.

Can Pogba help United win silverware next season?
