Newcastle United fans would have been often baffled by Moussa Sissoko. Sometimes brilliant, often missing in games. The Euros, where he was brilliant for France, must have frustrated them no end. But if they didn't know how to feel about him they clearly made an impression on the player.
Sissoko was brilliant during the Euros but that must have been a kick in the gonads for Magpies' fans who had just seen their team relegated from the Premier League with the 27 year old barely helping and showing little fight for the cause.
On Wednesday Sissoko looked on the verge of a move to Everton before his ignoring of Ronald Koeman's calls suggested a late change of mind and when Spurs eventually came calling to match the Toffees' bid it was no surprise he picked North London.

Newcastle fans might have been glad to see the back of the former Toulouse player but they clearly have a special place in his heart:
