In what has been a very exciting deadline day for Arsenal fans, they have not only tied down Mesut Ozil to a new contract, but also completed the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners were desperate to add the Gabon international to the ranks and officially announced his arrival earlier today, with some help from their other new boy, and Aubameyang's former teammate, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who made his debut in the 3-1 loss to Swansea City.

Though Arsenal's defence is still an absolute shambles, having now conceded more Premier League goals than West Brom following the dismal showing at the Liberty Stadium, there is reason to be excited about the link-up between Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan.

Signed by Jurgen Klopp from Shakhtar Donetsk and Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2013, the pair struck up a wonderful and instant understanding in the Bundesliga and the stats racked up by them in terms of goals and assists, is very impressive.

What could have been at Arsenal?

Starting out in Germany, the duo accrued 29 goals and 14 assists between them as Dortmund finished second to Bayern Munich.

Mkhitaryan endured an injury hit-campaign in 2014/15, scoring five goals and having four assists to his name. However, Aubameyang continued to do the business, scoring 25 and setting up a teammate on eight occasions.

But it was only when Thomas Tuchel took the reins at Signal Iduna Park, that the partnership well and truly blossomed.

Incredibly, in 2015/16, Mkhitaryan's final season as a Dortmund player, they contributed to a sensational 90 goals over the course of the season. Aubameyang went goal crazy, while his colleague was swimming in the assists.

Throw in Alexandre Lazcette and Ozil, fresh from signing a new deal at the Emirates, and you've got a gorgeous set of attacking options.

Will 'Micki' and 'PEA' replicate their sublime form at Arsenal?

Sound off in the comments.
