Barca Have Scored 4000 Goals At The Nou Camp, Messi Has Scored Or Assisted 10 Per Cent

It's Messi's world and we're all living in it...

It was only right that the scorer of Barcelona's 4000th goal at the Nou Camp was Lionel Messi, wasn't it?

Since making his professional bow in 2004, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored a bagful of goals at the hallowed turf of Barca's home and it was fitting that he was who notched the landmark goal in the Copa Del Rey quarter final second leg win over Catalan counterparts Espanyol.

Having lost the first leg 1-0, Barca went ahead inside nine minutes last night, with Luis Suarez finding the net. Then in the 25th minute, Messi grabbed the all-important goal to take the Blaugrana's Nou Camp tally to 4000.

Reasons why Emile Heskey is better than Lionel Messi:

The strike, incidentally his 25th goal of the season, took a wicked deflection and will be near the bottom of the pile in terms of his ridiculous goal collecton.

But it was of course a hugely significant one in the history of the five-time Champions League winners.

Incredibly, of the 4000 official club competition goals Barcelona have scored on their home patch since they moved in back in 1957, 7.7 per cent have been scored by Messi.

Even more impressive, is that the pint-sized Argentinian has scored or assisted just over 10 per cent of the goals, despite only playing 14 years at a stadium that has been around for 60 years.

Barca's record goalscorer has casually slotted in 308 goals at the Nou Camp and contributed further by registering 102 assists for his teammates.

Simply sensational stuff. It's Messi's world and we're all just living in it.
