Real Madrid's Marcos Asensio is a real gem of a talent.

The Real Mallorca youth product is being talked about as the next big future star in Real Madrid's ranks. After Real snapped him up for a dirt cheap £2.5m, he spent the last two seasons on loan at Mallorca and Espanyol respectively, but the Spaniard has been included in Real Madrid's first-team fold this season and has thoroughly impressed.

He made an instant impact on his first start for Los Blancos when he netted a stunning goal against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup back in August.

His boss Zinedine Zidane is clearly very high on him and it was reported back in December that the Frenchman sees the youngster in the same light of Lionel Messi - the ultimate compliment for a young player.

And when you see the immense piece of play Asensio conjured up in the 3-0 win over Real Sociedad yesterday, it's easy to see why the Messi comparisons are actually a thing.

The 21-year old came on as a late substitute for Lucas Vasquez and just minutes after entering the fray, destroyed two Real Sociedad players with incredible balance, close control and a frightening turn of place in the middle of the park. He then played the ball out to the wide right, where the ball was whipped in for Cristiano Ronaldo to score what would have been a fourth goal for Real, but the offside flag had been raised.

Still, this piece of play was a joy to watch and demonstrates just what a huge talent Real have on their books in Asensio. Harried by two Sociedad players, he completely ruins both of them with a filthy skill.

In total, Asensio has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven goals.

He's also already a full Spain international, having made his La Roja bow back in May against Bosnia.

Clearly he's got his work cut out at Real Madrid, with so many talented attacking players competing for places, but he's certainly doing all the right things at the moment and appears to have all the tools to be a top-level player for years to come.
